McMillan Memorial Library owes a great debt to its
community partners. Their support allows the Library
to provide programs that we could not afford,
purchases furniture and equipment we would do without
and otherwise enriches our services.
Foundations
Alexander Foundation.
Bell Charitable Trust.
Mead-Witter Foundation, Inc. The Mead-Witter
Foundation has given the Library over $2??,??? during
the past 15 years. In 2002(?), the Foundation
purchased $100,000 worth of new furniture and shelving
for the Library. An earlier donation funded the
startup of McMillan's Local
History On-Line, which won the WLA / Highsmith
award for Innovation in 2002.
McMillan Memorial Library Endowment Fund.
Started with donations from Anne McMillan Burt and
sustained by later donations from the community and
wise investment, the Endowment plays an important role
in funding programs, enriching the collection and
maintaining a quality library. The Endowment is
funding $250,000 of the $350,00 budgeted for the 2005
Remodeling Project.
Technology
Charter Communications, Inc. Charter
provides the Library with a 3 MB Cable Modem line.
This connection is used for four Internet workstations
in the Adult Department and the wireless Internet in
the Adult Department and Lower Level. Charter has also
given the Library broadcast time for its public
service announcements.
Wood County Telephone Company, Inc. WCTC
provides the Library with a DSL line that is used to
provide Internet to three stations in the Adult
Department, one station in the Children's Room, the
Fine Arts Center and the All Purpose Room. Staff from
the WCTC.Net help desk also present an introductory
Internet class monthly at the Library.

Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune.
WFHR / WGLX. Wisconsin Rapid's radio
stations air free public service announcements
concerning Library events.
In-House Partners
Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre. The
Library has been home to WRCT since it was founded in
197?. WRCT books over 80 nights a year on McMillan's
stage. For over twenty years, the Library also
provided free storage for the groups props and costumes.
Heart O' Wisconsin Genealogical Society.
HOWGS maintains their records at the Library and hosts
annual Genealogy Days, as well as other regular
programs. They have contributed funds for
genealogy-related books and microfilm.
River Cities Community Access (formerly PAC
4) and the Arts Council of South Wood County
were housed at the Library for many years before
moving to offices elsewhere.
Businesses and Individuals
While it is not possible to recognize every
business or individual who has supported the library,
we wanted to list some to demonstrate and recognize
the generous support we have received.
From the Ground Up provides coffee for the
McMillan Coffeehouse series.
