[The fleet, just below the Dam in the Dells. In those days three sections,
or strings, formed a complete lumber raft. Before running the Rapids at Kilbourn
Dam (now the Dells), the raft was separated, each string making the run
independently, and were then reassembled below the Dam so as to resume the
