Calling all writers! In addition to our writing contests and podcast readings, McMillan is working on compiling a short volume of our contest winners in our forthcoming McMillan Press Journal. We will be running a few more contests before we have enough material to print. Now’s your chance to not only win prizes, but to be included in the inaugural issue of our journal.

 

First Place Prize: $100 Amazon Gift Certificate + Prize Bag + Inclusion in forthcoming McMillan Press Project

Second Place Prize: $50 Chamber Gift Certificate + Prize Bag + Inclusion in forthcoming McMillan Press Project

‘Tis the season to spice everything from your shoes to your hair with fragrant spiced chunks of pumpkin. So why not spice up a story with a myriad of pumpkins? Submit your short story with some element of pumpkin included. It can be anything from holiday to horror, or holiday horror!

 

Submissions should be:

  • Original, unpublished, work.

  • Suitable for a general audience.

  • Under 5,000 words.

  • Devoid of identifying names within the story, or on it’s pages. Please include your full name in the email, but do not include it on any of the pages of the story. We want judges to be able to read the stories anonymously.

  • Submitted to cmcginnis@mcmillanlibrary.org with the subject heading “Pumpkin Power.”
