Please join other book loving community members for the monthly meeting of the Banned Book Club. We read and discuss books that have been banned and challenged. To learn more about what classifies a book as banned or challenged, check out information from the American Library Association: https://www.ala.org/advocacy/bbooks

No need to sign up! Copies of each read will be available at the Service desk. Books are on a first come, first serve basis although we make every effort to select books that are readily available in the South Central Library System. Ebooks and audiobooks are also available from Wisconsin's Digital Library / the Libby app.

This month we'll be reading the haunting graphic memoir They Called Us Enemy, writen by George Takei.

Summary from LINKcat: They Called Us Enemy is Takei's firsthand account of those years behind barbed wire, the joys and terrors of growing up under legalized racism, his mother's hard choices, his father's faith in democracy, and the way those experiences planted the seeds for his astonishing future. What is American? Who gets to decide? When the world is against you, what can one person do?

October is when we choose our books to discuss in the coming year. Everyone is welcome!
