Congratulations to the McMillan Press Short Story Contest winners!
We had a large pool of submissions to read through this year. The stories were read by four judges; the scores were combined to arrive at a consensus for the best stories.
We would like to thank all of the writers that participated—we couldn't do this without you! Keep writing! Look for more writing contests, workshops, and author events at the McMillan Library in the future.
McMillan is a part of the Central Wisconsin Book Festival again this year! Author events will be happening at the library on September 23rd and 24th. On Saturday the 24th Beth Amos will be leading a writing workshop at 12:30pm—learn the mechanics of good suspense writing!
The Winners:
1st Place: B.A. McRae – “Far Within Reach”
2nd Place: Kailee Crowell – “The Manor”
3rd Place: Signe Jorgenson – "Radio Tromsø”
Keep on the lookout for more contests and let your writer friends know as well. McMillan's writer's group called Write Night usually meets on the fourth Thursday of the month from 6pm – 8pm in the McCourt Room.
These stories will be included in our future McMillan Press publication! We are still at the beginning stages of preparing for publication, but will update everyone when we get close to publishing and having a reception event to celebrate our local authors.
