Drawing from his experiences as a Congressional staffer for Russ Feingold, eight years of teaching in Phoenix and Milwaukee, and six years working with Jesuit Refugee Service, first as an education in emergencies specialist in Africa, and then as its director of education programs, Greg St. Arnold will explain why foreign aid is so essential for our national security, our economic prosperity, and for our national and human dignity - along with giving some real-world examples of what impact US foreign aid is making in various places in Africa and throughout the world.
In addition to being a former McMillan Library director, Ron McCabe has a sideline as a singer/songwriter folk musician. He tells us that songs can organize our emotions and show us a way forward. He will share songs of love and encouragement—some originals, some old favorites, and some we can sing together. Join Ron to explore the solid ground beneath our political earthquake.
This is an ongoing writing group that is dedicated to encouraging exploration and refinement of writing craft. We will read each other’s work, provide feedback, and talk all things literary. Please bring a laptop, or paper and a writing instrument.
All adults welcome. More information regarding our process and google docs will be provided at our monthly meeting. (We use google docs to collaborate month-to-month: reading works before meetings allows us to spend more time critiquing.)
McMillan Library staff will be at the Wisconsin Rapids Zoo for our summer family event. We will have various games, activities, and crafts for you to do during this event.
McMillan Library is taking over the Aquatic center for the evening for an event for our library kiddos and their families. We will have some special activities for you to take part in throughout the evening. Including local author Lisl Detlefsen reading her book 1, 2, 3 Jump! which is all about swimming.
Our friends from the Food and Farm Exploration Center in Plover are coming to visit McMillan Library. They will be bringing us some fun activities to help us learn about the importance of agriculture in the state of Wisconsin.
